I
would like to welcome all present and new members to the 2008 season.
This is a most exciting season for North Harford Swim Club. After
several years of planning we are pleased to announce that the remodel of
the club has begun. Both pools will be completely remodeled. The main
pool will be one of the premiere pools in the county. Not only will we
be expanding the size of our main pool but we also are expanding our
main drains as well as new higher efficient pumps to increase water flow
to give us better water quality. A new diving board as well as a bench
in the pool will also be part of the renovation. Our old baby pool is
being removed to make way for the new main pool. A new baby pool will be
relocated and will include a new deck area and will have a zero
clearance entrance.
This project has taken
much planning and many volunteer hours to make this happen. I would like
to thank all board members from the past and present that have made this
possible. The board members from the past have helped propel us into the
future and I can not say enough about our present board members. We all
have the same goal and that is to make our swim club a great, safe and
fun place for our families to spend their summer days and evenings.
Scott Wehage
will return as our past President. Scott has been the club President for
the past two seasons and helped to make sure that we were on target for
this project. He will continue his efforts in his new role.
Gary Weininger
is our Vice President of operations. Gary has been the key player on
this project. From the time he has been on this board Gary has had a
goal to make this project happen. He will be over seeing this project
from start to finish and as operation manager he will also be working
hard to make sure we have a clean and safe club.
I would like to welcome
Michelle Levey as the clubs new Treasurer. This will be a
challenging year for Michelle with many new expenses.
Cathy Chamberlain
was our Treasure last season and will be here to assist Michelle in her
new role. Cathy was instrumental in helping us obtain our loans for the
new pool.
Stacey Jump will
return as the club Secretary and also handles our membership. Stacey has
worked so hard over the past several years. Not only has Stacey taken
care of her role as a board member but she also has done so many other
jobs. She is always there to help with any task we have. She gets a gold
star from NHSC. Thanks Stacey.
Vince Difatta
will return as swim team director. Vince has done this job for many
years. He is well recognized in the swim team community.
Robin Carnival
will return as our Swim Lesson director. Robin has done a great job to
make sure our Red Cross swim lessons are successful.
Janine Lis will
return as Communications director. She has been contacting all of you by
email through out the year and keeps our web page nhswimclub.com up to
date.
Joyce Porter
will return as Planning and Adult Activities director.
Laura Pattison
will be with us another season as Family Activities director. Laura has
worked very hard on many fun activities for both adults and kids. She
has given the club its character which we are known by. Many smiles have
been created by Laura’s efforts.
Jim Welsh will
also return as Assistant Operations director. He will work closely with
Gary through out the season to maintain our club. Jim works double time
in the spring to make sure we are ready for the season.
The most important
thing we all need to remember about these great people is that we are
all volunteers. We always welcome any help anyone can give us. North
Harford Swim Club has become a community within a community. If we all
help from time to time we can achieve to have the best swim club in the
county.
This will be my sixth
year as a board member and I am very excited about our new improved
changes to the club. I hope to put together a great staff again this
year led by Amanda Koss who will be returning as club manager. Amanda
has done a superb job managing our staff and working with our members.
This is the first major
step for the success and future of the club. We should all plan for
exciting, fun and safe summers for many years to come.
